Six Flags!

Some would no doubt consider it a strange "Sabbath kick-off", but for me a trip to Six Flags Over Texas (in Arlington) was just the ticket! Between my love of roller coasters, the nostalgia this place holds, and the healthy benefits of fresh air and sunshine, it was fantastic. Oh, and the company was pretty great, too. The only thing that could have made it better would have been to have my "OG Six Flags fam" along--aka, my family and the Vests, of course! Six Flags has always been about facing and overcoming fear for me. I was a very fearful/timid child, and as an adult looking back I think one of the best things my parents did for my little anxious self was take me to ride roller coasters!! (I would insert the "tears of joy" emoji here if I could!) I was coaxed and cajoled on to rides I was hesitant about, but never forced to ride anything--though I waited in every line with them and I was not allowed to complain. Every year, there were rides where ...

Snow! :)

Yep, you read right. There is, currently, at this moment, snow on the ground in San Angelo, Texas! And there was a whole troop of very happy Miller kids out there enjoying it earlier. :) It isn't much; just an inch or two. But schools are out for the day (only in West Texas....) and it seemed like kids were coming out of the woodwork in the neighboring houses to build snowmen and play in the snow this morning/afternoon. Crazy how we've lived here for 2 months and we didn't even know any kids lived in those houses. :P We had a fun, slighly violent snowball fight (I have a bit of a headache from taking a hard-packed snowball right smack in the face) that started out with girls against boys and ended pretty much every man for himself. Rather than building a snowman, we built forts for the fight...which were promptly obliberated in the war. But it was all so much fun! Then we all trooped inside to make and devour some snow ice cream. If you've never had it/made it, you shou...

Happy Valentine's Day (the *digital* way)

OK, so after a month of not blogging (sorry, y'all!), I thought I would share our Valentine's Day with everyone. Because y'all so care, right?! ;) My parents are in San Antonio this weekend so my mom can study for her NARM test (to be a licensed midwife) that takes place on Wednesday. So...this afternoon, Amber and I got this text from Daddy: Oh me, oh my--what can we say? We didn't forget it's Valentine's Day! We thought we would celebrate the digital way! So gather together, do not dismay. Text us back when you're all ready to play. So we all got together and replied: Gathered in the living room Awaiting our impending doom. ;) And this was the next text: The clues will come one at a time To get the next one, you have to rhyme. So turn on your brains, get ready to look It's DIGITAL V-day, so go check _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _! So we all went rushing to Facebook . Sure enough, Momma's status update said: ( See it here ) Robert & Kelly are playing a Valenti...

Tuesday's Tidbit

Here we go with today's tidbit. Me being the "word-aholic" that I am, I loved this little interesting bit: The verb “cleave” is the only English word with two synonyms which are antonyms of each other: adhere and separate. We had a great trip to San Angelo!! Lots of fun and laughter and way too much sugar...which might have played in to some of the laughter. :D We played "Who, Sir? Me, Sir?" yesterday afternoon; always a riot with our family! Papa was the "caller", and he is SO good at that. The faster it goes, the more flustered everybody gets, and the more fun it is!! The ones who were really cute, though, were the little kids that came in to play with us later...watching them trying to a) remember what they were supposed to say when and b) spit it out before being sent to the back of the line was as much fun as anything! Then we played "In a Far Off Land"...that one you have to see to understand just how hilarious it was. I think Micah got...

Just a day in my life...

Well, so I didn't get the little Christmas trees out in the front yard... *shrug* I did, however, manage to get menus and grocery shopping for the next week done, reply to some e-mails that have been sitting in my inbox for a while (if yours hasn't been replied to yet, I'm sorry and I'm working on it! :D), and figure out a pattern that will work for some Christmas presents the boys are going to make. Oh, and I got to Christmas shop with my sister over the phone (we live almost 4 hours apart, how else are we going to do it?!). Speaking of which, there are a couple things I'm supposed to go check out online...I'll do that real quick when I get done here! We also called Papa Rollins and sang him "Happy Birthday". Don't ask me how old he is, I can't ever keep up with my grandparents' ages! We ended our evening watching My Fair Lady . It's kinda strange to be hanging out with all boys and it be their idea to watch that particular movie. :D O...

Settling in...

Hey, y'all! Well, slowly but surely we're getting everything unpacked and organized and getting settled in here in Springtown. We mostly just have little odds 'n' ends stuff to do and the decorating part (hanging pictures and, for me, my doll shelf :D). Hopefully we'll be done by next Wednesday, since we have some family coming in for Thanksgiving! Last night we played a game of Bible Outburst. SO much fun! :D We played Dad and Micah against Josiah, Jonathan, and me (Mom was out studying with some friends/fellow students). The J's and I won! :D Our last card was "Names, titles, and descriptions of Satan", so Dad and Micah were giving us a hard time about winning with the devil. :P Actually, the card that pulled us within winning range was "Events in the life of Joseph"... having just recently studied the book of Genesis, I had a bit of an edge. We got all the answers on that one. :D Oh, speaking of Bible-things...here's a taste of the kin...
